Callaghan Interiors started in a little shop in a back street of Richmond. With a couple of Shaker displays in this tiny shop five orders were secured and our kitchens went into business. It soon became apparent that these premises were to small and so we moved the operation onto Richmond Road on the outskirts of Twickenham. This provided more space to show displays and with a small workshop at the rear allowed in-house production and alterations.
Due to a decorating background and a sound knowledge of paints and paint effects Callaghan Interiors became one of the first stockists of Farrow and Ball which complemented the bespoke nature of the kitchens and offered a traditional choice of colours for their customers. Rag-rolling and stippling became the look of the time with distressed finishes making an appearance this was overtaken by light woods and the simple Shaker looked fresh in maple and oak.
As Callaghan’s reputation for kitchen design and manufacture grew so did the need to separate the kitchens from the paints. The move to Teddington was both exciting and frightening. Once again more space opened up displays opportunities and over ten years kitchens have became open plan, family rooms, entertainment spaces, with maple changing to walnut and impact walls of strong colour to neutral hues.
The move in 2009 to Hampton Hill has once again opened up possibilities. We have introduced to our bespoke ranges a new and contemporary German collection which can be handle-less, glossy or matt and gives a totally new look to our showroom. As a company we value our reputation and our hardworking and friendly staff, take care of our customer’s needs and hope to provide quality together with great design.
